Happy New Year Everyone!! Thank you for visiting my blog. This is my very first blog post and my very first blog ever and I am super excited. I found it fitting to start a blog for the first time at the beginning of a new year/ decade as sort of a new start for me, the beginning of something new, a challenge to overcome(yup it’s a challenge for me) a brand new excitement and I am happy to share this with you all.
When I thought about what to write for my very first blog post, it dawned on me that since it’s the start of a new year, my first blog post should be about starting the new year ‘right’. Starting the new year “Right’? What could I possibly mean by starting the new year right? Well, for me the starting of a new year means literally a ‘do over’ a chance to set new goal, make right on goals I failed to carry through with in previous years. Yea, Yea I am one of those new year revolutionist who just loves to set goals at the start of a new year. Has it always worked? Well like most I set these goals and I try my best to follow through with it but sometimes life gets the better of me and I falter on some of these goals, but that doesn’t mean it never helped to set them in the first place, because actually these goals provide me with a guide as to go though my life and to gain control.
So here’s a few ways I start my 2020 right:
Pray
I believe that prayer is very important. I am a very spiritual person and I believe that giving God thanks for his grace and mercy and the opportunity to live to see another year is a must for me. I atone for previous sins and ask for guidance and protection moving forward. So for me prayer sort of sets the tone for a new year for me.
Have a Personal Development Workshop
Yep, there is such a thing as a personal development workshop for me. This where I spend the entire New Year’s Day writing down my goals for the year, create a vision board and devise different strategies on how to achieve these goals. In writing my goals, I categorize them by: Personal Development Goals, Spiritual Goals, Financial and Business Goals. This activity is very uplifting and motivating for me and can’t see me starting my New Year without setting goals. I believe that goalsetting provides me with guidance and purpose and breaking them down into the different categories is even more rewarding for me. So, if you haven’t tried please have your one man/ woman workshop, best thing ever!
Body cleanse
I like to start my new year by doing a cleanse or detox. This is where I blend my natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Cucumber and green apple and basically drink these for the day to get rid of all the holiday junk still in my body from the previous year. I don’t know if it’s just me but I believe that starting the year as light as possible is a the perfect start to a new year it gives me a sense of newness. This basically is my idea of a new start for my body where I get to now feed my body with clean foods.
Make and organize my list of Side Hustles
I would not be starting my new year right if I hadn’t included side hustles, as it stands, I am currently working a 9-5, but for me having one income just does not cut it, so I have a few side hustles that I do online and offline to supplement my income as well as put towards my savings and emergency fund. So to start I evaluate how my current side hustles have been working out as well as research new side hustles I can start. I literally make my excel sheet with columns and remarks on everything. This is such a good activity for me as I get motivated to make that money all over again.
So there you have it, that's how I choose to start my New Year right.. Hope it helps!!
